Debbie and Mike

We were fortunate enough to spend the Memorial Day weekend with Sandra's sister,Debbie and her husband Mike in Indiana. Before we left, Debbie's daughter, April and her son, Curt came from Missouri and we got to spend some time with them. We played games and then April demonstrated her skills at speaking Russian, Curt played some tunes on the piano and Debbie played several pieces on her new violin which she just received last Christmas. She is doing so well for playing such a short time. We had a great time.

Heeeeeer's Merna

Here is Sandra's mom, Merna. She's a classy lady and works in a very interesting health food store where I like to shop and discover all of the great tasting food and goodies. In this picture she is doing her hobby of reading the books we have collected over the years. She is also the mom of five (5) other girls and two (2) boys. She lives in a great community with lots of friends and a church close by.

About Sandra (By Larry)

Sandra has been the most important supporter of Larry's work. She has her own specialties (accounting, payroll and various other bookkeeping talents) which she does very well. But one of her real talents is knowing how her husbands activities work - then filling in and supporting just the right thing at the right time. She was vary good at keeping the organ store running smoothly, ordering books, organizing and executing potlucks, concerts and dinners for customers. When Larry taught voice, she sang in some of the choirs and fully understood what kind of tone his training had led him to require. In the transportation business she is very good at budgeting, accounting, tax issues, apportioned plates etc. . .

She is also a good grandma and cares about her family a great deal.

About Larry

In 1991 I retired from being a college teacher. I taught voice (singing) and choir for 22 years. Then I went into the music retail business selling pianos and organs for 10 years. Then Sandra and I decided to go into business for ourselves and we established our S.O.L.O Transportation, Inc. We both obtained our CDL class B, passed the exam for hauling hazardous material, bought a straight truck with a sleeper and leased our equipment to a major carrier. We are in our sixth year with that carrier. In order to heighten our income, we procured clearances to haul specialized material requiring surveillance. Sandra and I have both enjoyed our varied career and are thinking of staying home as soon as we can financially do so. We have built our house including a music teaching studio and I plan to go back to teaching private voice lessons.

I have a lot of education in voical performance and teaching, including 12 years of personal study with a very good teacher in Glendale, CA., Mr. Joe Klein (no longer living). I alson have a B.S., Music Ed., and a M.A., Music.

Together again

Here are our two four-year-olds. They think alike, communicate on their own level and were born only 39 hours apart. But they only get to see each other once or twice a year - - -what a shame. Their mommies are sisters.

Colby the Man

Here is proud grandma and grandpa with Colby, Calvin and Carlie's little brother.
Isn't he a cutie? He looks just like grandpa did when he was four years old!

Ain't She Sweet

Here's Carlie. She is posing near a waterfall in Rock City. She's our grandaughter (Calvin's sister). We're proud of her and her nice smile.

The Three Tenors

Here we are. Lenn (Kevin), Jack and Larry. The three sons of Laurel and Vivvian. And yes, we all sing tenor.
You can also see the piano behind us. Since we moved to TN we've been seeing each other a little more often.
Recently, Kevin has taken up the banjo, Jack needs to get back to guitar and I need to get back to singing, playing the piano and teaching.

Calvin's Demonstration

Our grandson, Calvin is 10 and while he was here he performed a Chemical demonstration for all of his fans.
He dropped some candy into a bottle of diet Coke. The Coke shot up 30 feet into the air then he finished off the bottle!!

All that is left is a lot of foam, but he finishes off the bottle.
