After baking in the oven for about 40 minutes, it is time to take it out of the oven and grease the top. The best part is after it cools and you have some toast for breakfast!

After placing the little loaves into the pans and letting it raise back up,it is time to put it into the oven.

The next thing to do is give the bread a good pounding (the girls had to do this since grandma can't pound very hard)! Then roll it into loaves, carefully pinching the ends and across the length of the loaf so it will stay together.

Grandma and Grandpa were privilaged to have Joelle and Natalie stay with us this afternoon. When Grandma started making bread, 2 girls wanted to help. So, here they are in step one of bread making; greasing the pans, punching down the big bread in the bowl and cutting it into four small loaves.

Joelle Helps Lead Song Service

 

 

Today, Joelle had a turn helping her Mom (Doreen)lead out in the Family Sing portion of the church service, and she did a super job. She can read enough words that she sang out on the stanzas as well as the chorus. She sang out good and strong and really added a lot to the singing.

Chuck E Cheese's

 

 

 

Yesterday, Doreen and Steve went downtown to celebrate their anniversary by seeing sights and biking along the river. They stayed downtown and came back today. Joelle and Natalie stayed with friends until today at noon. Sandra and I picked up the girls and we met Doreen and Steve at Chuck E Cheese's (In the top picture from left to right are Steve, Natalie, Joelle and Doreen). The girls had been looking forward to playing at the game place and eating in the restaurant. They earned 807 tickets along with the help of Steve and Grandpa. Then we all went to the Marble Slab Creamery for Ice Cream. We made a tongue twister out of the name. Try saying Marble Slab Creamery real fast. Joelle tried it real fast and came up with Marble Cream Slabery! That made me laugh out loud!

Just look at these bushes. We went blueberry picking out near Sandra's Mom's place in Georgia. We picked a bucket and three quarters for $8. Yummie!! I love blueberries.

Tuning the piano

 

This is a picture of me and Andria (Jack's oldest daughter) tuning one of my pianos. She was interested in how to tune a piano so I am showing her. Joelle (Doreen's oldest) took the picture for us. And that is Esther over there in the corner. She is quite a little musician herself!

Here is a before and after picture of the bench. Quite a difference, huh? This piano is mahagony and has a nice deep red color.

Last night I completed a refinishing job on a 1954 Story and Clark (original) piano. Sure looks better, huh? Anyone want a piano? This piano has a most delicate tone and the keys are very easy to push. I really like it.

Sandra and I were over at Merna's (Sandra's Mom)on Friday and found these pictures of Merle and Iona (Merna's Folks). We thought they were quite nice so we are placing them on the blog for those of you who would like to save them to your picture files.

Fun With Curt

 

 

Sandra was going through pictures today and came across this picture of me and our nephew Curt (Sandra's Sister Debbie's son). We were visiting Steve and Doreen back in 1995 (or there about) when they lived in Southern Illinois. I was showing Curt how to be a farmer and hold a piece of grass between the teeth. I started out with a nice little piece of grass about a foot long and Curt found one about the same. Then I found one about 18 inches long and Curt found one about 2 feet long. Well the contest continued until Curt found this one about six feet long! No doubt about it - He won the contest and from then until now is a certified, grass chewing Farmer!!

We were happy to have my brother, Jack's oldest daughter, Andria and her family visit with us for a couple days. Here is Andria(at the piano), Jessica (the tallest)and Esther singing around the piano. We really enjoyed a ride in a horse drawn carrage. The dalmation dog has been riding with the lady driver for 8 years.
